1st Leg! 3/26/2021 (8hrs)

Another long day for me but not at Nationwide but with Columbus City Schools. One of the worst things about these events are setting up and taking down. In order to make sure we run a successful track event. We have sanitized the stands to make sure we are keeping up with are upkeep of sanitation for the area where fans where be located. It might seem easy but marking spots where spectators can sit gets a little tiring and starts to become hard on your back and your legs going up and down the stairs. There’re both home and away stands and to keep social distancing possible, we have to use both stands. That’s a lot of walking and a lot of marking. Also, we have to get all the hurdles and place them in their proper spots so teams will be able to warm up and stretch. After track ended their practice, we had to make sure we sanitized every single hurdle and all batons being used. Working with Columbus City, we all know that we want to continue to have spring sports and we have to put in the extra dirty work to make this happen for the student-athletes. This is only the beginning; I will have more of the blueprint tomorrow but I’m sure we will have to sanitize specific areas, or all the equipment are sanitized between races. It takes a lot of manpower specifically when you don’t have a team to complete this specific tasks. You can’t be successful in these positions if you refuse to get your hands dirty. Its perspective for other people to see you in charge of an athletic program or company but seeing you doing the same things janitors or other cleaning teams would do. Personally, I believe that’s how leaders are made in these specific positions and that is what Mario has showed me up to this point. After sanitizing and setting up for tomorrow, we made sure that there was no problem with travel for the other teams and made sure we had everything we needed to complete another masterful event with Columbus City Schools.
