Today with Columbus City Schools, I was back to being the head AD for the Boys Volleyball game. I love receiving more opportunities in small settings like this because there is not a lot of risks that goes into volleyball game. Saying that, we still have to sanitize bleachers pre- and post-game to make sure that we are still following protocols. You never know who is watching, so following protocols has always been imperative for every event we put on. Those efforts haven’t been unnoticed because the athletes were able to participate in their respective sports. That’s what matters the most to me, that the student athletes are able to play their sports but as safe as possible. It was a little farther trip for Licking Heights, but all travel plans were on schedule and they arrived on time to warmup and participate. Volleyball is still like other sports. You must have an operating score clock, score keepers from both teams, two referees, with two additional volunteers to be on the back line to count the ball in or out. It’s not just showing up, and taking a few tickets, it’s a lot of work that needs to be put in behind the scenes in order to make this event work. This is a bittersweet moment since this is the day before my last day with Columbus City Schools. This organization has a lot of prestige, and it’s an honor to be a part of it.
