My official last day with Columbus City Schools. Acting as the head AD for the softball game. All duties remained the same. Had to make sure the field was ready to go. With the softball field, you have to put up the fence, and this was the first time I actually had to do it. It takes a lot of effort, but we had the bodies to do it. That was the only new thing I did today. Outside of that, the internship added better communication skills and better time management. Deadlines have to e met and you always have to be ready to host any event on any given. Think about all the deadlines Mario had to hit with purchase orders, or even eligibility in order for his own student athletes to be eligible. One main experience was facility management. I found out firsthand that there is a lot that goes into it. Most Columbus City Schools offer more than 10 sports easily, and you have to make sure those facilities that are being used are up to par. You always have to make sure you have the right contact information for professional electricians, landscaping, etc. Mario and I had great communication inside and outside the workplace. We rarely had any miscommunications. I did everything that he asked me to do. He mentioned I was one of his best interns because others lacked work ethic and didn’t do much. After this internship, I still want to become an AD in the long run. Assistant AD sounds more realistic, but I believe I want to develop into a college AD. That would be another great accomplishment. All in all, I believe this was a great experience and I would recommend anybody to do this with Columbus City Schools. There is a lot of work to put in during all sport seasons. You won’t regret it. Thanks Dr. Tiell and Mario for this opportunity. See you next week at GRADUATION.
