Another day with Columbus City Schools, and another day to observe another school and their outside facility. Today it’s a track meet at Hamilton Township High School. I was told that track meets during the week don’t normally last as long during the weekend. I was able to leave work early to attend this event because I wanted to make sure I was able to get there on time to observe policies and other processes that could be different from Columbus City Schools. Hamilton Township is not a part of Columbus City Schools, so once again, it’s good for me to see another school and see how they do things. First thing I noticed was that there were a lot more fans allowed but that’s not shocking to me due to different restrictions from the city and the rest of Central Ohio. Second thing I noticed is Hamilton Township had a lot more personnel with them in order to make this a smooth event. Personnel all through the stadium and with parking. During the track meet at Northland, we didn’t have anybody controlling parking. It was first come, first serve. After seeing their stadium and some of their facilities from the outside, I personally believe Columbus City Schools need more funding for better equipment and facilities for their student athletes. Being in weight rooms across the city compared to schools in the OCC is night and day. It’s a huge difference, and it shows. Other than that, I believed this was a great event, their staff was respectful and organized, and I can take some things I seen back to Mario.
