Today with Columbus City Schools, I was the head AD for the Boys Volleyball game against Centennial. We are late in the game, and all these opportunities will be me being the head AD during these home games. Set up was normal and we were still able to have fans in attendance. Once again, there were more Centennial fans there. I don’t remember any Northland fans being there, which makes this a unique situation. Transportation was handled properly, and Centennial had a successful trip there and back and they both were on time. One thing that should be most avoided is the visiting team being late. Also, we are proactive with the bus schedule because we want to have alternatives if any problems would arrive. I was there early enough today to make sure all volleyballs were game ready, and to make sure we weren’t having any technical difficulties before and during the game. Every detail from taking tickets to taking down the equipment is imperative to the operation of the facility and gameplay. Honestly, I think this is one of the easier jobs outside of being the head AD for softball. It’s not a lot of pressure and you shouldn’t make any minimal mistakes. Saying that, we are always ready for the unthinkable if anything happens to players or personnel. I’m glad Mario has been very comfortable with me being the head AD. I love taking more of a leadership role with Columbus City Schools. These long days with this and my job are well worth it. Relationships with the student-athletes are getting stronger as well as the staff. I couldn’t ask to be in a better opportunity.
