Had a long day at work but I still couldn’t wait to leave and continue to work with Columbus City Schools and Mario Bowles. Today was still a big observing day to fully understand what Mr. Bowles has to go through to make sure the event is running as smooth as possible. Trying to get more comfortable with the position and not wanting to mess anything up, I stepped back to let him handle everything for this specific game. I knew I should’ve tried to step up more to assist with anything that he needed but I just wasn’t comfortable yet. Personally, I haven’t been to a girls or boys basketball game in Columbus City leading up to this point. It’s a great experience to see these athletes compete and try to perfect their craft. Saying that, I had a little bit more responsibility today with communicating with OHSAA officials to make sure they are on schedule to arrive. Today there is a JV and Varsity game, so I have to make sure we have all officials for both games. Once officials arrive, I take them to their locker room location and make sure they have everything they need in order to complete their duties during these games. Northland Boys took on Afrocentric today and won both games convincingly.
