Today with Columbus City Schools was a straight up sanitation day at Northland High School. Mario and I teamed up with the football team to help clean and rearrange the weight room in there. I took the day off to help make this happen. I have plenty of days, so I wasn’t too worried about it. Also, I can testify and say that this weight room most likely hasn’t been cleaned in over a decade. This took a lot of work and manpower to get a lot accomplished. I believe we all did a fantastic job turning this weight room around into something it has never looked like. The first thing we didn’t was wipe down all the weight racks, dumbbells, and plates. Most of the athletes did that and made time move smoother. The kids had some motivation to work because the head coach brought donuts and was ordering pizza for them as well. It’s their spring break, so they needed some extra motivation to come in. Also, we removed a bunch of older weight machines in order to make more room for what we were trying to do. This took a while at first because we didn’t have the proper tools. I drove to my fiancés parents’ house to grab a few tools that we needed to start the break down. We had multiple brooms and squeegees to mop up water after we all took turns to power wash the floors and all the mats. You should’ve seen the color of the dirt that came ff these mats. Probably not good for human consumption. I actually enjoyed something like this because it shows the changes certain coaches want to make for the betterment of their student athletes. Once you see these pictures, it might not look like much, but you had to be there to see how dirty and unorganized the weight room actually was. Glad to be a part of this. On to the next task!
