One thing that I learned is that all AD’s are the superstars for Columbus City Schools. It’s so much behind the scenes work that they all have to do during these times, and it’s incredible to watch. Think how difficult it is for budgeting while you are not making any money because you can’t sell tickets or didn’t have concession for any of their winter sports. Budgets get tight and there is not much they can do. I’m sure they all wish the world can get back to normal in order to bring more money for their respective programs. That being said I was the active AD tonight, so I had to make sure the Northland Boys team had everything they needed to go compete against Gahanna. Made sure transportation was processed, for an on time and safe and arrival. I decided to go to the OHSAA playoff game at Gahanna just to observe their operations compared to Columbus City. One thing that stuck out to me was that their spectators weren’t as spaced out. They had fans for the majority of their season, so its new to me. Oddly enough, this is the first time I seen a concession stand all season. Columbus City wanted to limit any small gatherings possible if we did have spectators. All people had masks but one of the differences is that their bench didn’t have to wear masks compared to any City school. Other than that, it was a well-oiled machine, and a successful event for Gahanna and their basketball program.
