Another day with Columbus City Schools, and I haven’t looked back once. I am getting more comfortable with the daily process of gameday management. I like this style of work because its more hands on for me and I learn better this way. Being in the line of fire helps me perform better and to learn stuff on the fly as I go. Good thing up to this point is I haven’t made any huge mistakes. I’ve been careful with the decisions I make, and I am remaining as safe as I possibly can. I am still responsible for sanitation stations, communications with referees, and managing the guest list. We’re still not allowing fans, but we are now inviting media outlets such as 270 Hoops, and collegiate scouts. This is a great opportunity for both teams and specific players to get some recognition to showcase their talents. As for scouts and media, social distancing still applies. All bleachers in Columbus City, are marked with x’s, which states that’s where spectators can sit, and it can’t be more than two people at each spot that is marked. Also, I finally got to meet Vincent Clarno. He is the director of student activities with Columbus City Schools. Outside of the super intendent for Columbus City, he makes all the major decisions for all sport activities for each high school. I hope to get some time to possibly shadow him and pick his brain about his daily processes. I’m sure he is very busy because he looks over all 15 schools and their athletic programs. I always knew who he was, but I never met him until tonight. Seemed like a very stand-up guy. He ended up leaving the basketball event very impressed on how we handled everything and how organized we were from the beginning of his arrival to his departure. Another great day in the books heading towards the weekend.
